There's Snow one like you

It appears Blogger is having some issues. I can't seem to add hyperlinks to anything after a certain point. Maybe it's just me? Oh well, here is a Christmas card I made. The sentiment is from Scrappy Mom set called Winter Wishes. The snowman is a retired Stampin Up set called Stitched Snowman. That paper is a Martha Stewart mat stack I purchased at Joann's and that twine is from Martha Stewart also.

Terrific Tuesday Challenge/Peachy Keen Sketch Challenge #67

I hope everyone had a Merry Christmas. I only cooked for 9 people, but I couldn't have been more tired. No more frying fish next Christmas Eve. It's too time consuming! Ok, onto the challenge. Scrappy Mom's TTC challenge this week was to create a project using a bag. I love me some cello bags. They are good for everything. For this project, I made a set of cards to give away as a Christmas gift. I made a generic and simple bag topper to match the first card. The bag/package is for the TTC challenge and the card is for the Peachy Keen sketch challange #67
The actual card is for Peach Keen's Sketch challenge #67. The challenge was to create any project as long as you incorporate a PK stamp. How easy is that?! The turtle is cut from Create A Critter. This whole pack includes shaped cards. Here's a close up of some of the cards included. The turtle is from Create A Critter. The patterned paper is DCWV Citrust stack. That stamp is from My Pink Stamper and that adorable face is Peachy Keen's Princess Faces.
For my next card, I used the snail from Walk In My Garden. The sentiment stamp I later added is from Papertrey Ink. Unfortunately, I didn't get a picture with the sentiment, but it reads, "Inching by just to say". I cut off the workd "hi". I love this sentiment with the snail.
For my last card, I used Everyday Paper Dolls for this adorable doggie. I have a confession. I bought this cartridge solely for this cut. I don't really use the paper dolls much, but this dog was the cutest. I made 4, each using one of the faces in one of Peachy Keen's newer releases, Happy Go Lucky Dog Faces. Aren't they just too adorable?!
The sentiment stamps are from Mr. Cricut Crazy, Man's Best Friend set. Here's a close up of this adorable pup:

Throwback Thursday Challenge

Emma's Throwback Thursday Challenge this week over at My Creative Time is to use a kid friendly cartridge and make a kid friendly themed project. I just had to use this little cutie from Playtime. I just love this cartridge. I searched high and low for it a while back and was finally able to get it from Ebay. I was SO excited because I love almost every cut it has!

The sentiment is from Emma's set called Turn that Frown Upsdie Down. That set is so versatile. I would say it's my favorite set, but I'd be lying because I love all of Emma's stamps. I can't wait for her next release this week! Her sad little face is from Peachy Keen's Cutie Pie face assortment. Don't you just want to hug her?!

I'm so happy to be entering this challenge. I missed her Design Team Call two weeks ago. I was so swamped that week. I was planning a surprise trip to Florida for my mom's birthday (which went great!), it was my husband's birthday, I had company coming, and I got out of work late every night. I was so, so disappointed because to design for Emma would be so exiciting and mean a lot to me. I do feel that it just wasn't meant to be. I hope I can try out next time. In the meantime, I still get to enjoy her inspirational blog and awesome stamps! Ok, sorry for the tangent. LOL

Throwback Thursday Challenge

The challenge this week at My Creative Time is to use an older cartridge with a card feature. The card must be Halloween themed. This was the perfect opportunity to use my Hello Kitty Greetings cartridge. I have been wanting to use this cut for a while. Hello Kitty is so cute with her little cape! I just love how she turned out. I decided against using a sentiment stamp on the outside because I thought it would detract from her adorable outfit.
I cut the base card in Kraft colored cardstock at 5". Then I used the blackout feature to layer on top of that because the card feature didn't cut one side of her whiskers. I cut out the cape freehand because I didn't like it just black. It didn't really look like a cape to me. I used glossy accents on her eyes. They will dry clear and give her some dimension.
The patterned paper is from DCWV Midnight Spell. This is the most awesome Halloween stack ever! So many glittered, embossed or foiled pages and such amazing colors. I'm going to really miss this stack when it's finished.

My Craft Spot Design Team Submission: Mini Book

Kimberly at My Craft Spot is having a Design Team call. I was so inspired I couldn't wait to get started. For my project, I made a mini book. I had so much fun creating this project. I just purchased a new Martha Stewart punch, Doily Lace, because I had this tri-fold card design in mind. A confession? This project started off as a card, but then I decided to use a new technique I just learned on creating a mini book with glue as the binding; no binding machine necessary. I couldn't wait to try it and this was a perfect opportunity.

I popped up the title on the book to give it extra dimension.

For the pages, you start by scoring the patterned paper the same spot as your book, in this case, at 4.25". You adhere the first page down and then adhere each additional page to the previous. That is how the binding is made. You can view an awesome video on this technique by Heidi Swapp here on My Craft Channel. That bright circle on the top right is actually a flower cut from glittered patterned paper with an epoxy sticker over it.

You can see the epoxy sticker effect better in this picture. I created a pocket on the bottom and stuck a tag in there that can be used for journaling or a small photo.

I left the middle page kind of plain because the paper is so graphic and I wanted to have it vacant for a larger photo.
I had so much fun creating this mini book, I will definitely be making more of these! Thanks for looking and come back soon.

Recipe:
  • Base at 5.5" x 10". Score at 4.25" and 8.5"
  • All paper from My Mind's Eye Lovenest and Spring Feast from First Edition
  • 1" circle punch and 3/4" square punch for the cover banner and base for facets and epoxy stickers
  • My Creative Time Anyday Bingo & Crossword for the letters on the cover
  • My Pink Stamper Stamps Family & Friends for the "memories" on the cover
  • Tim Holtz Facets
  • 1" Epoxy stickers
  • Brad on outside from Basic Grey Sweet Threads collection
  • Glossy Accents as adhesive for facets and epoxy stickers
  • Cricut Cartridge Kate's ABCs for the flower
  • Martha Stewart Doily Lace punch

My Pink Stamper Christmas Card challenge

Robyn from My Pink Stamper challenged us to start our Christmas cards. I've been making a few here and there, but tonight I was really motivated. I've been going through a couple of weeks of feeling creative. The paper for this card is from a stack I bought at Joann's last year from Cloud 9. It's a mix of fall papers, Halloween and Christmas. I never want to use paper from this stack because every sheet is so adorable. But, I realize how ridiculous that is and got to work.

The snowman stamp is from an old Stampin Up set that I recently acquired and the sentiment is from a set called Winter Wishes from Scrappy Moms Stamps.

MPS Christmas Card Challenge

The snowman for my next card is from the Jolly Holidays cartridge. His face is a Peachy Keen stamp, Snow Faces and that adorable sentiment is from My Pink Stamper's Winter Punnies.
