You Are My Sunshine

Peachy Keen's challenge this week is a sketch challenge. You can see the sketch here. My project today was inspired by a prize I won at Peachy Keen's recent release party. Aren't these froggies the cutest?! The set is called Happy Lil' Froggies and they sure make me happy! The sentiment is from My Creative Time's Turn That Frown Upside Down set and it's stamped on Emma's oval stitched die. The sun was cut from Create-a-Critter. I'm also entering this into the Simply Crafts Challenge. This month's challenge was to use that adorable sun from CAC. This is my first time entering  Glora and Pam's Simply Crafts Challenge. I always want to and am so glad I finally did. They are both so inspirational.  For the dew drops, I colored a piece of white cardstock with the same color I colored the frogs in and punched them out with a hole punch and glued them to the colorless dew drops. I love those clear dew drops. It makes it so easy to match any color I want. Thanks for looking and have a great day!

Terrific Tuesday Challenge/Peachy Keen Sketch Challenge #67

I hope everyone had a Merry Christmas. I only cooked for 9 people, but I couldn't have been more tired. No more frying fish next Christmas Eve. It's too time consuming! Ok, onto the challenge. Scrappy Mom's TTC challenge this week was to create a project using a bag. I love me some cello bags. They are good for everything. For this project, I made a set of cards to give away as a Christmas gift. I made a generic and simple bag topper to match the first card. The bag/package is for the TTC challenge and the card is for the Peachy Keen sketch challange #67

The actual card is for Peach Keen's Sketch challenge #67. The challenge was to create any project as long as you incorporate a PK stamp. How easy is that?! The turtle is cut from Create A Critter. This whole pack includes shaped cards. Here's a close up of some of the cards included. The turtle is from Create A Critter. The patterned paper is DCWV Citrust stack. That stamp is from My Pink Stamper and that adorable face is Peachy Keen's Princess Faces.

For my next card, I used the snail from Walk In My Garden. The sentiment stamp I later added is from Papertrey Ink. Unfortunately, I didn't get a picture with the sentiment, but it reads, "Inching by just to say". I cut off the workd "hi". I love this sentiment with the snail.

For my last card, I used Everyday Paper Dolls for this adorable doggie. I have a confession. I bought this cartridge solely for this cut. I don't really use the paper dolls much, but this dog was the cutest. I made 4, each using one of the faces in one of Peachy Keen's newer releases, Happy Go Lucky Dog Faces. Aren't they just too adorable?!

The sentiment stamps are from Mr. Cricut Crazy, Man's Best Friend set. Here's a close up of this adorable pup:

PKS Challenge #57: Sketch with a Twist

I love Peachy Keen Sketch challenges when they include a twist. I'm not a fan of sketch challenges, but when there's another element, I'm thrilled. You can see the sketch here and the twist was to use coral, robin's egg blue and honeydew. I just received my stamps from Emma's latest release and I could not wait to use them so I decided to make this a Christmas card. I made several Christmas cards last year with non traditional colors and I loved how they turned out. I thought these colors seemed like a nice alternative holiday color combo and I think the card turned out nice. I used the new In Color Calypso Coral from Stampin Up! for the base. The blue and green are from last year's Joann's holiday stack called Peppermint Forest. I just loved that stack!! I also used Emma's dies from her newest release. Can I just tell you how easy it was to use these dies? They cut perfectly and they are so cute! All the stamps are from her All Around Christmas set, including the sentiment.

Peachy Keen Challenge #53

Peachy Keen's sketch challenge with a twist this week: follow the sketch here and the twist is to use a sponging technique. I used Peachy Keen's Fun Flower Ginger for this challenge. I paper pieced the image and sponged each element to give the image more dimension. I had so much fun doing this! Then I sponged the edges of the white cardstock and that adorable sentiment is a set from My Creative Time called Turn That Frown Upside Down. I've had that set for a while and just got around to using it. I love it! I took two pictures. The first is with natural sunlight and there's an awful shadow, but it shows the colors more true. The second is without the shadow. I cannot figure out how to get a good photo. :(

Peachy Keen Challenge 48

This challenge is a sketch challenge over at Peachy Keen Stamps. I had another inspiration for this card. The March 2011 issue of Card Maker magazine featured a card designed by Christine Okken that you can see on the link above. Her card was on the cover and I fell in love with it. The colors, the stamp, and her use of Flower Soft. I didn't have any Flower Soft, so I bought some from their website here and I also purchased a tree stamp which I didn't have either. LOL. I just bought DCWV Blossom Song stack while in Florida visiting my mom. I am in love with this stack. The colors are my favorites: pinks, greens and aquas. I went shopping in Michael's and initially didn't buy this stack. I went home (to my mom's) and could not stop thinking about it so I dragged my mom back the next day. She's so great. :) I am SO happy I bought it. Ok, here's my card, complete with Flower Soft, tree stamp, and the sentiment is from My Creative Time's Color Me Happy set. Peachy Keen: Sketch Challenge 44

This weeks Peachy Keen sketch challenge had a twist! Follow this sketch using a monochromatic color scheme. I don't usually like sketch challenges, but I'm trying to embrace them. I particularly enjoyed this one because of the added twist. I think I just feel too restricted following a sketch; I don't know.So, for this card, I used Peachy Keen's 258 Easter Bunnies. I've had this set for a while, but was never happy with my coloring. I just received some Copics for Christmas and decided to give them another try. I certainly need practice with my Copics, but I'm pleased with the outcome. That bunny is just too adorable anyway! For the sentiment, I used Emma's stamp set, Color Me Happy. I cannot get enough of that set. And they smell delicious, too. LOL.
I used Stampin' Up! Bordering Blue for the base. The layer is from DCWV Spots, Dots and Plaids. That stack is awesome! The darker blue is Papertrey Ink's Enchanted Evening. Those buttons are leftover from about 5 years ago, a totally different craft phase. I'm glad I saved everything from all my different craft phases. Hoarding is good! Of course, I had to incorporate some adhesive pearls on this card. I used a white gel pen to add some hilights and called it a day. I hope you enjoy and thanks for looking.

Peachy Keen Challenge #43: Be Mine

Peachy Keen's challenge this week is a sketch challenge. Usually, I can't get inspired by sketch challenges, but I did this time! I had so much fun creating this card. The "Be Mine" banner was cut from my newest cartridge, Twinkle Toes. So was the layered heart, actually. This cartridge has so many shapes that can be used as backgrounds for stamped sentiments, it was a bonus I knew nothing about until I bought the cartridge! Yay!

I used so many different elements on this card. I guess the snow is making me more creative. LOL. The floral patterned paper is from Stampin' Up! and the polka dot paper is from DCWV Dots, Stripes & Plaids- I'm loving this stack! The sentiment is from Papertrey Ink's Heart Prints Stamp Set.
